Lindsay Staniforth has been pursuing fine woodwork since enrolling in the Fine Furniture Program at Selkirk College in Nelson, BC. She has a Bachelor of Science from Queen's University and attended an Introductory Cabinetmaking course at SAIT.

Lindsay's current aesthetic interests are "contemporary romantic." She likes the idea of historical furniture and period pieces but doesn't think their aesthetic fits very well in today's décor. "I think that adding a unique curve or detail to a piece is so important and can be done in a way that adds artistic quality without being too ostentatious. I am trying to develop my furniture around these concepts. It's a learning process, and occasionally I succeed at finding the right balance."

Both of Lindsay's pieces in the show are built with similar construction. Over-sized mortise and tenon joints are carved down to create a fluid feel. "Dressing Stand" is intended to be a contemporary alternative to the traditional clothes horse for business suits. "I like the idea of having somewhere to throw your clothes that will also look beautiful when everything is put away."

Lindsay resides in Vancouver, BC, and she welcomes anyone to contact her by email or phone.
