Scott has been involved in fine woodworking for thirteen years. He has no formal training in woodworking, citing self-instruction and walks through the forest as his education.

Scott's current aesthetic interests include the Arts and Crafts style and philosophy, which focus on natural forms. His pieces are characterized by the use of native woods and the use of curves rather than straight lines.

His small tea/end table was commissioned with the following two criteria: it had to be able to be broken down and shipped easily and have a removable top that could double as a tray.
