After completing a four-year apprenticeship in 1984 for boatbuilding, Tony honed his woodworking skills with a number of companies and private clients on the west coast. In 1992 he started his own wooden boat restoration and custom furniture design business.

Tony has also worked in the arts as a commercial illustrator, painter, and as a teaching assistant at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. In 1994 he co-founded “Group LAVA”, which consists of award-winning Vancouver designers and builders who collaborate annually for an exhibition of unique furniture design and functional art.

Tony teaches boat building, ship cabinetry and furniture making at the Silva Bay Shipyard School on Gabriola Island and is one of the founders of the island’s wood workers guild. He is currently building a 34 foot Ted Brewer designed sailboat at his home workshop.
