	Art Thompson (Tsan-Quass-Upp) Born in 1948 in the remote village of Whyac on the southern end of Nitinat lake, Art Thompson spent much of his life in Victoria. He was well respected not only for his artistic skills, but also for his knowledge of the traditional Nuu-chah-nulth songs and dances. Thompson was also a tireless fighter for all those who, like himself, suffered the abuses of the residential school system. Tragically, he died of cancer in early 2003. 	Stephanie Frostad Stephanie Frostad was born and raised in Walla Walla Washington, and now lives in Missoula Montana. Michael Williams was very supportive of her works, which have received little critical acclaim due to their highly, but uniquely, traditional subject matter. She often paints diptychs, although there are actually at least 9 in this series, of which Williams owned 6. The women in the paintings are often Frostad herself. June Cycle II Oil on Canvas 1993
