Western Match Company (1945)
154 Fairview Road, Esquimalt
Architects: McCarter & Nairne
of Vancouver
There is almost
a nautical quality to the design of this lowslung streemlined building,
a classic example in Victoria of the stripped down moderne style. It
is interesting that the architects were better known for their Vancouver
work in the much more elaborated deco style, in particular the Marine
Building some 15 years earlier.
