Broadmead Estates (1965-94)
Display Homes
Edgewood Avenue
Design: Mike Nixon
The 712 acres that
now comprise the Broadmead Subdivision was the first post-War planned
community to developed in the Victoria area. In order the control the
quality and "feel" of the treed hillside site Broadmead Farms Ltd. imposed
strict design guidelines and developed Edgewood Aveneue with a series
of demonstration display homes. The naturalistic landscaping, and "West
Coast Modern" design approach relied on expressive uses of timber construction
along with fieldstone, shingle and cedar siding finishes and textures.
