Irene and Joseph Casey House (1940)
900 Gorge Road West, Tillicum, Saanich
Casey, a line superintendent for the B.C.E.R served numerous times on Saanich Municipal Council and also on the Board of the Royal Jubilee Hospital. This cubical stucco two storey moderne-style house, with hints of deco in the detailing, is perhaps a stylistic precurser to the substantial building activity that was to take place five years later at the Hospital by W.F.K.Gardiner, H.Wittaker, and others. The entrance porch and bay window unit with its extended eliptical balcony roof it treated as a secondary box, partially inserted into the main block from the right front.
