Jack Kidder

Jack Kidder was born in Little Sioux, Iowa in 1925. He received his artistic training at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles and spent the war years as a technical illustrator of aircraft manuals. He continued his artistic practice after the war and immigrated to British Columbia in 1964. Kidder soon established himself as an innovative artist using new materials in his sculptural experiments. As well, the artist produced finely crafted drawings, had his photographic work published, and received commissions to produce public art in buildings around Victoria. Kidder’s work is found in the collections of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, BC Provincial Collection, the Canada Council Art Bank and numerous private collections here and abroad. Kidder died in 1990.
