James Gordaneer

James Gordaneer was born in 1933 in Toronto. In lieu of a formal education he traveled and painted in Mexico, England, Greece and Spain, where he visited the major museums and came in contact with many mature and established artists. Gordaneer has consistently taught art part-time at various schools, colleges and universities in both Ontario and B.C. He was a professor at the Victoria College of Art for many years during which he also exhibited regularly. Gordaneer's work is well recognized in Canada and his paintings are found in many public and private collections. He has been a member of the Canadian Group of Painters, Ontario Society of Artists, Society of Canadian Painters in Watercolour, and was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1973.
