Ken Flett
Ken Flett received a diploma in Photographic Arts
from the Alberta College of Art In 1987. He has continued to use
photography in his work, but builds on top of the photographic image
through the layering of various media on distressed canvas or wood
paneling. Describing himself as a humanist, his work has been noted
by art critics as successfully transcending race, class, age, and
sex.
Flett moved to British Columbia in the early
1990's and since then has exhibited in several juried regional and
provincial shows where he successfully received awards of excellence
and at public art galleries province-wide. He also exhibits commercially
with the Fran Willis Gallery in Victoria, BC. In 1996 he traveled
to Mexico as part of the Canada Council Mexico Artist's Residency
Programme. The artist has received several grants from the BC Arts
Council and the Canada Council. He currently resides in Parksville
on Vancouver Island.
Her work is found in numerous collections including
those of Camosun College, Cumberbirch Insurance, Grant McEwan College
(Edmonton), British Importers, and the Provincial Art Collection
of British Columbia.
