Communications Building (1941/42)

2260 McCoy Road, University of Victoria

Archts. Department of Defence

With the gradual disappearance of Gordon Head Camp barrack structures, this communications centre may well be the only reminder of the Campus's military history. Originally it contained power generation and radio equipment linked to a pylon type transmitter/receiver system. The rounded corners, smooth pebble-dash finish, wrap-around corner windows make this a striking example of the Moderne style.
