The Haida Nation
Haida are born into either the Raven or Eagle clan depending on the mother. Each family has a supernatural woman who is their ancestor. Each extended family group owned property, not only the physical such as: resource areas, land, houses, canoes, baskets and traps but also the non-physical such as: names, ceremonies, rights to family crests, songs and dances. Some of the Haida live on the Queen Charlotte Islands and the rest in Alaska.
