George Rammell was born in 1952 in
Cranbrook, B.C. and studied sculpture at the Vancouver School of Art
(Emily Carr College of Art and Design), from 1971- 75. During his
third year there, he made an extensive study trip through Europe.
He has been active as a sculptor and teacher since 1975. Between 1979
and 1990, he taught at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design and
managed the realization of major works by Haida artist Bill Reid.
Since 1989, he has been a faculty member with the Studio Art Program
at Capilano College in North Vancouver.
Rammell has had numerous solo and group exhibitions and his work
has enjoyed broad, critical acclaim. As well, he has been the recipient
of awards from both the BC Arts Council and the Canada Council.
