John Livingston

John Livingston, born in 1951 in Victoria, is a non-Native, adopted Kwakwaka'wakw. He has been affiliated with the Hunt family since the 1970s when he was taught the art of carving by Henry and Tony Hunt. John has worked on many commissions with Robert Davidson, Art Thompson, Susan Point, Tim Paul, Tony Hunt, Calvin Hunt, Tom Hunt, and many others. Livingston is highly acclaimed for his expertise and talent as a carver of great versatility. His work is found in numerous public and private collections throughout North America and Europe.

Livingston was instrumental in the coordination of the University of Victoria’s ceremonial Chancellor’s chair, stool and lectern.
