PROPOSAL
GUIDELINES
- The
applicant must be an arts or heritage organization registered
in BC or the Yukon.
- The
applicant must have a significant collection of cultural property
on which to base a project (i.e. fine art, decorative arts,
graphic arts, architecture, ethnographic arts).
- The
applicant must demonstrate the need for participating in a collaborative
project.
- The
applicant must provide matching revenue and in-kind support
from sources other than CURA funds.

PROJECT
FUNDING
Projects
Fund
- Grants
up to $10,000 are available per project to support the direct
project costs of the client organizations. A list of eligible
expenses is included with the application form (PDF
format) or MS Word format.
Additional
Funding Sources
- Numerous
opportunities for matching or supplemental funding for project
support are available. See the list
of suggested sources.
Training
and Study Visit Fellowships Fund
- Fellowships
of up to $3,000 to assist access to 10 day on-campus courses
offered by The Cultural Resource Management Program at the University
of Victoria.
- Travel
costs (including accommodation) for client visits to the partner
institutions for project consultation and familiarization with
collections.

APPLICATION
PROCESS AND DEADLINES
There
are two stages to the application process:
- LETTER
OF INTEREST: Applicants must submit an initial Letter of Interest
to the CURA Program Coordinator. The CURA partners will review
the Letters of Interest to determine if expertise is available
to support the needs of the applicant. Applicants may suggest
the researchers or curators with whom they would like to work.
- FORMAL
PROPOSAL: If potential projects can be facilitated by the CURA
partners, applicants will be invited to submit an application
and formal proposal for adjudication by jury.
Deadlines:
- Letters
of interest should be sent as soon as possible. Final deadline
for letters of interest is July 3, 2001.
- Formal
proposals must be received by August 1, 2001

LETTERS
OF INTEREST
Applicants
may suggest the researchers or curators
from the partners with whom they would like to work. Letters of
interest should be no more than one or two pages. They must include:
- a
short description of the project;
- a
description of the cultural property on which the project will
be based;
- an
indication of the kind of expertise and assistance required
from the CURA partners;
- a
profile of the organization and the personnel who will be involved
in the project;
- contact
information for the project leader;
- the
time frame of the project;
- signatures
of the head of the organization and the project leader.
Letters
of Interest may be emailed, faxed or mailed to the CURA
Program Coordinator.

FORMAL
PROPOSALS: APPLICATION FORMS
Applications
will be accepted after Letters of Interest have been reviewed
by the CURA partners. The formal proposal must follow the outline
set out on the application form (PDF
format or MS Word format).

ADJUDICATION
PROCESS
- Applications
will be reviewed and adjudicated by a Steering Committee jury
with reference to other experts as required.
- Applications
will be evaluated in accordance with the CURA objectives.
- Applicants
may be contacted for additional information and revisions as
required.
- Applicants
will be notified shortly after a decision is made.
