Distance Learning Program Update

Some of you will know that the Distance Learning Program has not accepted participants for several months.  We will be opening up again for enrollment in October.  We are happy to announce that part of the grant received from the Commonwealth Foundation for 2011-2012 can be used by applicants from developing countries towards student fees.  CAM has had to revise the fee schedule because of rising costs.  We have not done that in many years.  The schedule will be announced over the list serve ...Continue Reading

Update: Commonwealth Association of Museums Initiative, Implementing International Law on Cultural Heritage Property.

This project is examining the capacity of museum and heritage professionals in smaller Commonwealth Countries to access and utilize international conservation laws, protocols, and interstate agreements. The Commonwealth Association of Lawyers has formally agreed to partner with CAM on this project. The Centre for International Sustainable Development Law, McGill University also joined CAM as a partner and agreed to undertake the first investigative phase and produce a “scoping document”. CAM Will Place Two Interns in 2011

The Young Canada Works Program, Building Careers in Heritage, sponsored by the Canadian government and administered by the Canadian Museums Association, has approved two internships for young Canadians to travel abroad this year.  The hosts for 2011-12 are Pacific Islands Museums Association in cooperation with the Vanuatu Cultural Centre in the South Pacific, and the St. Christopher National Trust in St. Kitts in the Caribbean.  CAM has placed interns at both locations previously and looks forward ...Continue Reading
