Centennial Stadium (1967)

Architects: Siddall, Dennis & Associates

In co-operation with the Greater Victoria Centennial Society and municipalities of the region, the University planned and built this community stadium to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of Canadian Confederation. The cantilever roof shelters some 3,000 seats. Viewers look out on a running track and a playing field. As a frank expression of engineering principles the stadium symbolized the University's early commitment to the design principles of the modern Progressive movement.
